Abstract
The previous chapter concluded with the statement that “the contractile effect of endothelin-1 is accompanied by a raised cytosolic Ca2+. Whilst it is a truism to say that it is the raised cytosolic Ca2+ (Figure 6.1) which is directly responsible for the contractile and positive inotropy of this polypeptide the cascade of events which culminates in this increase are complex.
