Abstract

While it is appreciated that vasodilators are effective in patients with congestive heart failure, their use in those patients in whom heart failure results from valvular diseases (particularly aortic and mitral stenosis) has been questioned by some investigators. Recent studies have revealed, however, that nitrates are useful in some of these patients.
