The Bituminous Lower Toarcian at the Truc de Balduc Near Mende (Département de la Lozère, S-France)

  • Conference paper
Cyclic and Event Stratification

Abstract

The bituminous shales (Lower Toarcian) of the Truc de Balduc represent the deepest facies of a symmetrical cycle of marine sediments. There are close faunistic and facies connections between Southern France and Southwest Germany. A few limestone layers in the bituminous facies can be correlated over very long distances in Europe. Some micropalaeontological results concerning the foraminifera and ostracods are presented.
