Zusammenfassung

Das maligne Melanom ist ein seltener, von den Melanozyten ausgehender Tumor. Obwohl der Anteil des malignen Melanoms an allen Neoplasien des Menschen lediglich ca. 1 % ausmacht, nimmt seine Inzidenz rascher zu als die der meisten anderen Malignome. Aus der Mehrzahl der epidemiologischen Studien geht hervor, daß sich die Inzidenz der Hautmelanome unter der weißen Bevölkerung in der ganzen Welt alle 6–10 Jahre verdoppelt. Zur Zeit muß mit einer Inzidenz von 10–12 Neuerkrankungen pro 100000 Einwohner gerechnet werden [16].
