Abstract

In this paper the specific role of the Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) in the development of Multiple Organ Failure Syndrome (MOFS) is discussed. Using the results of a prospective study in trauma patients the sequence of organ failures in the course of MOFS is analysed.
