Abstract
The human capability of comprehending plans — no matter in which representation language — depends on their size and complexity. The number of elements to be considered and the intricacy of the plan structure may place insurmountable obstacles to the understanding of plans — with or without computer aid. Taking into account all details of very large and complex plans lies outside the range of people’s capability. Attempts have been made to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to managing large projects, but there are two main difficulties.
