Clinical Aspects of Entrapment Neuropathies of Peripheral Nerves

  • Conference paper
Peripheral Nerve Lesions

Abstract

The terminology regarding neuropathy has become more and more vague. Too often the entity of neuropathy, due to an entrapment in a physiological narrow path, has been extended to the compression syndromes due to external pressure and to those due to additional pathological factors in the critical anatomical zone. This presentation is limited to the original concept of entrapment neuropathy: a peripheral nerve lesion presenting without evident external cause and localized in one of those anatomical zones where the nerve passes through a narrow path.
