Für die USA hat COOPER (5) errechnet, daß pro Jahr etwa gleich viele Leute mit dem Flugzeug fliegen und anästhesiert werden. 20 Millionen Fluggäste stehen 20 Millionen “Anästhesiegästen” gegenüber. Die Mortalität beträgt bei den Fluggästen 125, bei den Anästhesiegästen zwischen 3 000 und 4 000.
