Abstract
The climate is an important economic resource. The Carribean economies would be a lot less prosperous with London’s climate. The same would be true if the midwestern United States had Algeria’s climate. Climate is taken for granted, but, as these examples show, it shapes a country’s economy in ways so fundamental that it tends to be overlooked.
