Abstract

Many problems arising from the investigation of cellulose and products of its processing are related to their stereochemistry. Therefore one should know static and dynamic aspects of stereochemistry. Static stereochemistry takes into account the spatial disposition of the atoms in the molecule in the static state (constitution, configuration), while dynamic stereochemistry deals with the spatial relations between atoms and groups in a molecule involved directly in the course of chemical transformations which are due to the distinct effect of these relations on the equilibrium conditions and reaction rate (conformation, structure).
