Abstract
The line of a transverse fracture of the acetabulum divides the innominate bone into two segments. The upper is essentially ilium and the lower, which we shall call ischio-pubic, may contain some part of the embryologic ilium. Other simple fractures of the acetabulum result in separation of all or part of a column, whereas transverse fractures cut transversely both columns and divide each into two parts, but the upper and lower segments of the divided columns remain intact with respect to each other.
