Abstract
Here the specific internal hydrodynamical waves that exist in liquids with strongly different scales of stable stratification (Sect. 5.1) are analyzed. The interest in these waves is connected with governing nonlocal evolution equations. The wellknown examples of such equations are the Benjamin-Ono and Joseph equations, which are integrable. These equations are generalized for the two-dimensional multimode case in Sects. 5.2,3 for waveguides in the ocean and atmosphere. In Sect. 5.4 it is shown how the growth of the mean free path of particles leads to wave capture and the formation conditions allowing waveguide-type propagation.
