Abstract
Estuarine and coastal waters in the German Bight are characterized by high concentrations of suspended matter. The main sources for this material are
-
the runoff of the rivers Elbe and Weser, both of which discharge into the German Bight,
-
the mud flats which are part of the so-called Wadden Sea, a unique type of coastal water and which are flushed periodically by tidal currents.
