Bewältigung schwerer körperlicher Erkrankungen: Möglichkeiten der theoretischen Rekonstruktion und Konzeptualisierung

Zusammenfassung

Wer mit (chronisch) Kranken zu tun hat, ist zuweilen beeindruckt von der großen Variabilität in den Verhaltensweisen, die Menschen in der Auseinandersetzung mit ihrer Erkrankung zeigen: Manche ziehen sich zurück, andere suchen vermehrt die Nähe anderer Menschen; manche Patienten entfalten neue, ungeahnte Energien und Aktivitäten, während andere sich scheinbar passiv in ihr Schicksal fügen oder wieder andere übermäßigem Alkoholkonsum frönen. Zuweilen vermag man im individuellen Verhaltensstrom tiefgreifende und persistierende Veränderungen zu erkennen; nicht selten aber scheinen Menschen, obschon die Diagnose einer chronischen Erkrankung ein doch so einschneidendes Lebensereignis darstellt, alltägliche Lebensvollzüge soweit nur irgend möglich aufrechtzuerhalten und dem mit der Erkrankung (potentiell) einhergehenden „Veränderungsdruck“ zu widerstehen.
