Abstract
In addition to alcohol, which is the most important cause of chronic pancreatitis, several other, nonalcoholic conditions have been associated with chronic pancreatitis; thus, nutritional, metabolic, and mechanical disturbances, as well as a hereditary disposition, have been implicated:
-
1.
Tropical
-
2.
Hyperlipidemia (?)
-
3.
Hyperparathyroidism
-
4.
Biliary disease (?)
-
5.
Obstruction
-
6.
Trauma
-
7.
Pancreas divisum (?)
-
8.
Hereditary
-
9.
Idiopathic
However, not all of these etiologies are proven, and some are unlikely or controversial.
