Abstract
The successive changes the articular cartilage of a given synovial joint undergoes during intrauterine life are similar for all diarthrodial articulations. It was therefore decided to describe such development in a special chapter to avoid unnecessary repetition. The illustrations correspond to sequential steps of development, using various joints as examples.
