Phenomenological Quantum Electrodynamics of Active Media and Superradiance

Abstract

In this paper phenomenological quantum electrodynamics (PQED) is developed for collective coherent processes in macroscopic samples of active media. Superradiance (SR) in the inverted two-level medium is considered as the example. The remarkable phenomenon of macroscopic manifestation of quantum fluctuations observed in superradiance experiments is analyzed.
