Encounters of Disk-Galaxies in Small Groups and the Stimulation of Activity in Galaxies
The relationship between galaxy encounters and activity of galaxies, particularly in small groups, has been studied in model calculations. We have shown the important role of the interstellar gas which can dissipate the collisional energy. Gas exchange (loss or gain) is possible. The gain of gas is especially important, as it can initiate activity in galaxies.
