Function of Genetic Material. Structure and Function of Regulatory Sequences

  • Chapter
Progress in Botany

Part of the book series: Progress in Botany/Fortschritte der Botanik ((BOTANY,volume 51))

Abstract

The application of modern techniques of gene analysis has led to a considerable accumulation of facts on the activity of genetic material during regulation and differentiation. The availability of wellestablished techniques for sequence analysis and manipulation of genes — allowing the detailed analysis of regulatory elements — had a similar impact on genetics as electron microscopy on cytology, or electrophoresis on protein biochemistry.
