Joints of the Feet and Toes
Sites of uneven shoe wear or deformation can provide clues to the presence of a dysfunction. When the patient is supine, the feet are normally angled 15°–20° outward and are slightly supinated. The relative positions of the individual components of the foot determine the general shape of the foot. Inspection is performed with the foot placed flat on the examination table or floor or with the patient standing erect.
