Examination of the Cervical Spine in the Supine Position (E/V)
Findings are the same as in the sitting position. Attention is given to any discrepancy of head position between sitting and lying down. Faults of head position due to anatomic variations in the joints (e.g., different left and right facet inclinations in the same vertebra) or postural guarding due to vertebral restrictions or disk problems may lessen or even disappear in the relaxed, supine position.
