Zusammenfassung

Östrogene haben für die menschliche Fortpflanzung eine zentrale Bedeutung. Diese Aussage läßt sich an zahlreichen Beispielen belegen. Die somatischen Veränderungen, die mit der Pubertät einhergehen und sich als Vorbereitung für die Fortpflanzung verstehen lassen, sind überwiegend auf direkte oder indirekte Östrogenwirkungen zurückzuführen.
