Zusammenfassung

Karzinome der Cervix uteri werden am Radiumhemmet-Zentrum in Stockholm schon seit Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts behandelt. Das Radiumhemmet war während der ersten Jahrzehnte das einzige Behandlungszentrum in ganz Schweden, dem später weitere Institutionen folgten. Derzeit bestehen 7 Behandlungszentren, wobei jedes zwischen 700 000 und 1,6 Millionen Bürger versorgt. Durch diese Zentralisierung in der Behandlung des Zervixkarzinoms und der längerfristigen Nachsorge wurde eine solide Basis geschaffen, um Behandlungsmethoden zu entwickeln, sowie Behandlungsergebnisse und -komplikationen zu erfassen.
