Zusammenfassung
Für chirurgische Interventionen an der Halswirbelsäule sind uns vor allem auf Grund anatomischer Verhältnisse, jedoch auch aus mechanischen und technischen Überlegungen bis heute Grenzen gesetzt. Der relativ einfache chirurgische Ersatz einer nicht (mehr) funktionsfähigen anatomischen Einheit stößt an dem komplexen Organ der Halswirbelsäule auf bisher unüberwindliche Schwierigkeiten und kann diesbezüglich keinesfalls mit den Interventionsmöglichkeiten der großen Körpergelenke verglichen werden.
