Abstract
Possible targets of toxic substances in the bone marrow are the specific surface structures and enzymes of the cells, the specific regulation mechanisms and the very high cellular turnover rate. Nevertheless bone marrow is only seldom mentioned in toxicological publications. One reason may be uncertainties of the methods in the examination of this organ. The present study will attempt to answer the questions, in which cases and with which methods the bone marrow should be investigated in toxicological tests.
