Abstract

The prognosis of patients traditionally treated by surgery and radiotherapy for advanced tumors of the head and neck may be improved with the introduction of chemotherapy [3]. Chemotherapy as primary treatment can be more effective because the tumor has an intact vascular supply and the cellular kinetics are favorable; besides, previously untreated patients have a better performance status (PS) and better tolerance of drug.
