Abstract
Investigations are reported concerning the deprotonation of 1,3-indandione and 2-benzyl- 1,3-indandione and the alkylation of these compounds by benzylbromide. Both reactions are performed in a microemulsion and rate and equilibrium constants are determined. In order to discuss the results, deprotonation and alkylation are also studied in aqueous solution and polar organic solvents, respectively.
