Abstract
The paper by Cabral and Guimaraes lays the foundations for a study of maize futures prices from 1977 onwards. Guimaraes has already shown that prices from 1963 to 1976 possess exploitable inefficiences. Such results compiled with those in the present paper provide a sound methodological framework for exploring the issue of efficiency in recent years. Of course I look forward to purchasing results for prices from 1977 onwards with great interest.
