Zusammenfassung

In der 1972 erschienenen Ausgabe der Psychiatrie der Gegenwart charakterisierte Gelder die Verhaltenstherapie (VT) als „symptomgerichtet“. Die einzelnen Abschnitte waren dementsprechend nach den damals am weitesten verbreiteten spezifischen Symptomtechniken — systematische Desensibilisierung, Aversionsverfahren und aus operanten Lerntheorien abgeleitete Verfahren — aufgegliedert. Heute haben die ersten beiden Verfahren in der klinischen VT kaum noch eine Bedeutung. VT ist auch nicht mehr durch ihre mittlerweile außerordentlich vielfältigen Verfahren, sondern durch ihre Strategie charakterisiert. Die Darstellung dieser Strategie soll daher Hauptanüegen dieses Beitrags sein. Die Beschreibung der Verfahren (s. Abschn. 3) wird auf wenige Beispiele beschränkt.
