Abstract

One night Milan unexpectedly called at our flat in central Prague in an elated mood and asked for a cup of strong, black coffee. However, before coffee was prepared, he dozed off on the sofa. After a while, we opted to make him comfortable with a pillow and blanket and went to bed. In the middle of the night we were woken by the weight of Milan’s body diagonally across us on the bed. Milan, while asleep, resisted all our efforts to move him into a parallel position in the middle of the bed. Defeated, we retreated next door and went to sleep on the floor. In the morning, amazed by the situation, Milan disappeared and soon returned with an enormous bouquet of flowers for my wife Lida.
