Makroangiopathie beim Diabetes

  • E. Standl
Conference paper

Summary

Type II diabetics in particular suffer from macroangiopathy. However, type I diabetics may also have these complications, although microangiopathy is far more important in these cases. Only prophylaxis and follow-up can help avoid discovering consequences too late by learning form the late complications with which each diabetic has to reckon. In principle, therapy of macroangiopathic complications in diabetics does not differ from that in nondiabetics but the best therapy includes prophylaxis, early detection, and regular following. Physician working in private practice plays an important role in the long-term treatment of diabetics. Only prophylactic programs and regular follow-ups can help avoid the very late and untreatable complications which may affect every diabetic patient.
