Zusammenfassung

In der ‘Draft Recommendation’ I. 121 der Studienkommission XVIII der CCITT heiβt es: “Asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) is the target solution for implementing a B-ISDN” [1]. Diese Aussage verpflichtet dazu, die ATM-Technik in allen Verästelungen einer Netztechnik zu analysieren. Es geht also nicht mehr darum, in einer Art “bottom-up”-Sicht Netzknotenmodelle in einem Laboraufbau zu studieren und zu bewerten; vielmehr müssen jetzt in einem “top-down”-Ansatz die Zielvorstellungen eines ATM-Netzes spezifiziert werden.
