The Benefit of Biosynthesis and Response Mutants to the Study of the Role of Abscisic Acid in Plants

  • Conference paper

Abstract

In the 21 years since the birth of ABA in Ottawa, at the 6th International Conference of Plant Growth Substances, many effects have been attributed to it. In line with its origins most of the effects of applied ABA are inhibitory to growth and development, but a few stimulative effects have also been reported. Until the isolation of ABA mutants it was only possible to identify roles for ABA by studying the effects of its application or through physiologically correlated changes in its endogenous levels.
