Role of the Plasma Membrane in Host-Pathogen Interactions

  • Chapter
The Plant Plasma Membrane

Abstract

When we attempt to rationalize a complex biological phenomenon we are always influenced by apparently similar phenomena where biochemical details are already established and the underlying molecular mechanisms are partly understood. In the field of plant pathology such influences clearly come from human and animal medicine, in which many fascinating observations have been made regarding the mechanisms causing resistance to pathogens.
