Abstract
The total salt concentration (C) may be expressed in mol/l or mg/l, or in terms of the electrical conductivity (EC) of the water in dS/m or mmho/cm (1 mmho/cm = 1 dS/m). The average relationship of EC to concentration C in mg/1 for many water sources in the EC range, 0.1–5.0 dS/m is:
and EC = 0.1 C when C is mmol(charge)/l; [1 mmol(charge)/l = 1 milliequivalent/l].
