Status of the UMC Cosmic Ray Experiment
The UMC Ultra High Energy cosmic ray experiment is a collaboration among the University of Utah, the University of Michigan, and the University of Chicago. It is located at the site of the Fly’s Eye II experiment at Dugway, Utah, at latitude 40.2° and an atmospheric depth of 850gm/cm 2. Extensive air shower (EAS) surface arrays, a large area muon counter array, tracking Čerenkov telescopes, and the Fly’s Eye detector constitute the elements of a versatile cosmic ray observatory for ≳ 1014 eV extensive air showers.
