Abstract
Immunity to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) determined antigens is usually studied after deliberate immunization or pregnancy, but can also be detected serologically in the absence of prior intentional immunization, notably against class I antigens. Our studies in the rat, a preliminary report of which has been published previously (Günther et al. 1983), were initiated by the observation that rat sera to be used as normal sera in hemagglutination assays occasionally agglutinated the red blood cells (RBCs).
