Software for Neurosurgery Intensive Care

Intracranial Pressure VII

Abstract

Neurosurgical intensive care and diagnostics have specific needs for the analysis and interpretation of intracranial pressure (ICP) (Gaab et al. 1982). The cost of most monitoring hardware is very high, constituting the most important barrier in popularization of ICP analysis. During the Symposium on Intracranial Hypertension in Clinical Practice (Warsaw 1985), Professor M. Brock presented a solution based on a personal home microcomputer. Our own programs are similar in concept, the software pack is based on at least 5 years of clinical experience using a personal computer (IBM-PC). Advantages of this approach are obvious: to exchange scientific information stored on diskettes, to reduce cost, and to open new propositions and programs. We present programs already prepared at the Warsaw University of Technology and clinically tested in the Child’s Health Centre and Warsaw Medical University.
