CD-ROM: A New Electronic Publishing Medium

  • Patrick Gibbins
Conference paper

An outlineof the benefits and limitations of publishing on CD-ROM is presented. CD-ROM is positioned differently from other optical storage media. Typical applications in fields other than chemistry are identified. Chemistry and chemical structure information is particularly suited to exploit CD-ROM as a distribution medium. The value of the information is high and the information itself is frequently durable. CD-ROM products require special software considerations which are described.
