Enhanced Energy Transport via Quartz Fibers Using 250 ns Long-Pulse Excimer Laser

Abstract

Experiments have shown that a significantly enhanced energy transport via quartz fibers is achieved by using a long-pulse excimer laser. The technology used to generate 250 ns excimer laser pulses is described. Additionally it is reported on considerations leading to the design of an excimer laser fiber coupler. Measured data are presented.
