Abstract
We have used common pulsed lasers to determine the transmission characteristics of different step-index quartz fibers with core diameters of 200 urn up to 1500 urn. The pulsewidth varied from 10 ns up to 1.5 us and the applied energies up to 0.5 joules per pulse.
