Abstract

We present briefly some turbulence measurements in the wake of a sphere towed horizontally in a stratified fluid. We point out three fundamental questions raised by this experiment and similar ones : The collapse of the turbulence and of the wake, the generation and emission of internal waves and the interaction between waves and the horizontal vortices that persist for a long time after the collapse.
