Zusammenfassung
Die ethischen Aspekte biomediziniseher Tätigkeit in Forschung, ärztlicher Versorgung des einzelnen Patienten und in Organisation und Durchführung der Krankenversorgung werden in ethischen Komitees, Institutional Review Boards oder Ethical Boards beraten. Beratungsgegenstände sind der Entwurf von Leitlinien, die gemeinsame Ausbildung ethischer Kompetenz der Mitglieder und die Beratung in konkreten Einzelfällen. Die ethischen Komitees oder Institutional Review Boards stellen somit eine wichtige Institution innerhalb des Zuständigkeitsgefüges biomedizinischer Verantwortung dar. Der beruflich qualifizierte Bioethiker als Gutachter oder Berater, Kommissionen der öffentlichen Hand sowie berufsständische Organisationen sind Alternativen zu den ethischen Komitees und ergänzen sie. Die gemäß Verordnungen der Bundesregierung arbeitenden ethischen Komitees, die v. a. für die Forschung am Menschen zuständig sind, werden weitgehend Institutional Review Boards genannt, die nicht gesetzlich vorgeschriebenen Komitees der Krankenhäuser ethische Komitees; aber der Sprachgebrauch ist nicht einheitlich ([11], S. 11 f.).
