Abstract
Dangshen, Radix Codonopsis pilosulae, is the dry root of Codonopsis pilosula (Franch.) Nannf. (Campanulaceae), which is collected in the fall. It is officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and is used mainly as a tonic.
