Abstract

Over many decades, and with accelerating pace recently, many fascinating dynamic phenomena have been revealed by mathematicians and other theoreticians. The mathematical side is well reviewed in the book by GUCKENHEIMER and HOLMES [1]. The series of books on Synergetics (e.g. HAKEN [21) stresses qualitative nonlinear phenomena common to many sciences.
