Development of a Model for Study of the Antiedematous Properties of Ginkgo Biloba Extract
The vasogenic edema observed after irridation of the brain represents a new and interesting model for studying the antiedematous properties of a drug. We have just completed a first clinical study of injectable Ginkgo biloba extract, with the dual purpose of establishing criteria for simple and nontraumatic quantification of edema.
The results from this pilot study led us to continue this evaluation under strict methodological conditions, in view of their therapeutic and epidemiological value.
