Zusammenfassung

Mütterliches und väterliches Rauchen bei Kinderwunsch und in der Schwangerschaft hat negative Auswirkungen auf die Konzeption und Fertilität, führt zu zahlreichen Störungen in der Frühschwangerschaft, reduziert dosisabhängig Wachstum und Geburtsgewicht des Feten, erhöht die perinatale Mortalität und beeinflußt viele Jahre in der Kindheit Wachstum, neurologische Funktionen und Verhalten. Das kindliche Risiko zu erkranken, ist deutlich erhöht bei mütterlichem Rauchen in der Schwangerschaft. Da Frauen, besonders Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter, im deutschsprachigem Raum zu rund 40% Raucherinnen sind, wird die Gewohnheit auch oft in der Schwangerschaft angetroffen. Es ist erwiesen, daß Beratung zum Verzicht oder Reduktion der täglichen Zigarettenmenge die bestmögliche Therapie darstellt. Über die klinischen Probleme, die pharmakologischen Schädigungsmechanismen und die ärztlichen Aufgaben wird berichtet.
