Abstract

Multiple tracer outflow dilution (MTOD) experiments have been performed in our laboratories to study such exchange in which 125I-labelled albumin reference and 85Sr (Ca analogue), 86Rb (K analogue) diffusible tracers were injected together into Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer which was infused through the tibial nutrient artery at a physiological rate of 2 ml/min; outflow samples were taken simultaneously every 5 s from the ipsilateral femoral vein over a period of 5 min (McCarthy and Hughes 1986).
