Abstract
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head (ANF) is generally considered to result from the interruption of blood supply to the head. But it is still a controversial issue how this occurs. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the site of interruption of blood supply and to correlate ischaemia in the femoral head with histological change of the blood vessels in the resected femoral heads of ANF by microangiographic and histological examination.
