Abstract

During the last twenty years lots of papers have been published dealing with the surface segregation of Cu/Ni alloys /1–77/. The great importance of bimetallic catalysts as Cu/Ni alloys justifies this huge number of experimental /1–49/ and theoretical /50–77/ investigations. Reactivity and selectivity of alloy catalysts in heterogeneously catalyzed reactions are much higher than those of the pure metals. The composition of the surface is the decisive entity since it is responsible for the chemical and catalytic properties of the Cu/Ni alloys.
